St Barbara has established in excess of 10Moz of gold in Resources at Leonora Operations and Southern Cross Operations.
St Barbara’s commitment to driving the next generation of mineral discoveries in Australia is demonstrated through an innovative approach to target identification and acquisition of tenements covering priority targets throughout Australia, giving the Company a total tenement position in excess of 18,000 square kilometres, in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Northern Territory.
The growing exploration team includes regional exploration teams at each operation as well as a specialist base metals team.
The annual exploration budget of approximately A$35 million per annum is amongst the largest of any mid-tier producer.
In addition to the focus on gold, the company’s land holdings are prospective for nickel, copper and zinc.
The immediate focus is to supplement underground ore from Marvel Loch and Gwalia with additional high-grade ore-sources close to existing milling infrastructure. Targets include Jaccoletti, GVG, and Transvaal at the Southern Cross Operations and Tower Hill, Tarmoola and Harbour Lights at the Leonora Operations.
Exploration success is seen as a key to future growth.
