Energy Conservation
St Barbara is a signatory of the Australian Greenhouse Challenge Plus (GCP) as well as the Energy Efficiencies Opportunities (EEO) programs. These programs are administered by the Federal Department of Environment and Water Resources and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources; respectively.
The aim of the Greenhouse Challenge Plus program is the reduction of company greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while the focus of the EEO program is increasing energy efficiencies. In addition, the EEO requires companies to evaluate all opportunities for energy efficiency with a payback period of four years or less, as well as demonstrating adherence to key elements of the program The Company submitted an Assessment and Reporting Schedule to the Energy Efficiency Opportunities office outlining the proposed actions planned to be undertaken during the year to reduce energy usage by the Company. We are also working on a number of initiatives to reduce the greenhouse footprint and have submitted the first annual progress report to the Greenhouse Challenge Plus Programme.
